How to fill it in

  • Write down make, model, and serial before you price anything. It saves a second trip for the wrong part.
  • Give options. Good, better, best lets people say yes to something instead of no to everything.
  • Put a good-through date on it. Equipment prices move.
  • Take a deposit on installs before you order equipment.

Done with paper?

In JOBENS the quote goes out as a link. The customer signs it and pays the deposit from their phone, and you see if the job pays before you send. Solo is $29 a month, every feature on.

Questions

Why give three options on an HVAC quote?
People like to choose. A common split is the repair, the repair plus a maintenance visit, and a replacement.
How long should a quote be good for?
Long enough for the customer to think it over, short enough that your supplier’s price still holds. Write the date on the quote.
Should I ask for a deposit?
On equipment installs, most shops do. It covers the gear you order and holds the date. Put the deposit and the balance on separate lines.
Can the customer sign the quote online?
On paper they sign at the bottom. In JOBENS the quote goes out as a link. The customer signs and pays the deposit from their phone, no app to install.
